Choosing the right corporate colour is more important that we thought. Companies are increasingly relying on colour to effectively promote their company’s ethics and their business ethos – a big responsibility for just a colour. RAL was the most popular international colour range for the last number of decades, this is now, possibly, being superseded by the RAL Effect range. We have recently developed our tinting systems here at Paintshop.ie to incorporate this brand new colour range (with matching metallics). The RAL Effects colour range was developed for use with waterborne paints and coatings. The vast majority of our coatings are now either waterbased or solvent free. This is as important to us as it is to our clients.
Internationally there has been a phenomenal shift to using ‘green’ products. The most recent (and most surprising) corporate change being McDonalds decision to change their internationally recognised red logo to a green logo! McDonalds are changing to green as they feel that this leaves an association in people’s minds that McDonalds is good for the environment. McDonalds now wants to be recognised as a company that cares for the environment. For now, McDonalds are using this colour change to achieve this goal. Let’s hope they follow this up with actions that have a positive as opposed to a negative effect on our environment.
Colour was the tool that McDonalds used to support and create a positive image of their brand. If you want advice on corporate colour change or need the coatings to support this change give us a call. The RAL Effect colour range is a collection that will serve industry for many years to come. A paint paddle is a vitally important tool when it comes to mixing two-pack paints. A two pack paint is any paint that comes in two parts: a base and an activator. Unlike single pack paints, your two-pack paint dries by a chemical reaction between the base and the hardener. It is important that every part of the base mixes with some activator. If you have some base that isn’t in contact with any activator then the paint may not dry or harden, nor will it give the desired gloss.
This is where your paint paddle / paint stirrer comes in. Attach the paint paddle to the end of a standard household drill. Stir the base at a slow speed. Slowly begin to add your hardener (activator). Stir the base and hardener at a slow speed for approximately 4 minutes (this time varies depending on what type of paint you are mixing). Do not mix the products too fast as they will heat up and they will cure too quickly. For mixing ratios and other application and preparation details please see the data sheet of the specific product that you are using.
